Fireflies
A dark meadow and a few stones. Place fireflies until every square is lit.
How to play
- A firefly lights its own square and shines along its row and column until a stone or the edge stops it.
- No two fireflies may shine on each other.
- A number on a stone says how many fireflies sit right beside it, above, below, left or right.
- Every meadow has exactly one answer, and you can always find it by logic.
- A firefly in the wrong place costs a heart, and you have three. Relaxed mode has no hearts.
- Lose no hearts for three stars. A hint or two caps the meadow at two stars, and lots of hints at one.
Controls
- Tap a square to put a dot on it, a note that no firefly goes there. Tap again to clear it.
- Double tap or press and hold to place a firefly. Firefly mode places one with a single tap.
- Drag to dot several squares at once.
- With a keyboard, use the arrow keys to move, Space for a dot, Enter for a firefly and Backspace to clear.
- Undo takes back your last move.
Tips
- Start with the numbers: a 4, or a 3 against the edge, fills every free side.
- Dot the squares beside a 0 and beside a stone that already has all its fireflies.
- Look for a dark square that only one free square can still light.
Questions
How do I play Fireflies?
Place fireflies until every square of the meadow is lit. A firefly shines along its row and column until a stone stops it, no two fireflies may shine on each other, and a number on a stone says how many fireflies sit beside it.
Do I ever have to guess?
No. Every meadow has exactly one answer that you can reach by logic alone, and a hint always explains the next step.
Is there a new puzzle every day?
Yes. A new meadow arrives every day at local midnight, getting a little harder from Monday to Saturday, with a big and gentle one on Sunday.
